Brothers and sister we have a task like we have never had before, this was a tragedy and nobody plans for a burial expenses of a kid. This reminds me of the story of the Good Samaritan and the subsequent blessings.

Prayer and Fundraising Event for Mr Sospeter Kimani Gathogo

Mr Sospeter Kimani Gathogo

The family of Mr Sospeter Kimani Gathogo and fundraising committee is requesting the community’s support and assistance in raising funds for Mr Gathogo’s kidney transplant after initial treatment in the US failed to restore his kidney function. He is the father to Francis Kimani of Arlington, TX and Loise Kimani of Lewisville, TX.

Back in Kenya, Mr Gathogo is an active member in the Kabete Sub-location area and has been a representative of Kabete Sub-location in the Lower Kabete constituency CDF Committee. He has served as chairman and treasurer of King’eero Catholic Church as well as the treasurer of the Kingeero Development Group which was instrumental to the Chura Electrification project’s success. He’s currently the chairman of the Chura developmental group that is rallying local residents in building a secondary school in the Kingeero area.

Mr Sospeter Kimani Gathogo had been plagued with Enlarged Prostate which resulted in backflow pressure that consequently damaged his kidneys.
He came to the US for medical treatment late 2009 and was immediately put on dialysis. Through God’s blessings he had a successful Prostate surgery early this year all the while his kidney function was being monitored. In late April after numerous rounds of tests the doctors determined that his kidney function has not recovered sufficiently to discontinue dialysis.

Furthermore the results indicated very little chance his kidney function will improve to 15% or better. To qualify for transplant prospective candidates need to be otherwise healthy and medically competent to receive and sustain an organ. Fortunately additional tests indicated he’s a good transplant candidate.
His immediate family submitted to HLA typing tests and a match was identified to his daughter Loise Kimani. With a donor in hand the family set out to find hospitals that will accept to perform the procedure.

Without comprehensive insurance coupled with the existing national Kidney long waiting list it has proved quite difficult to secure the procedure in the US at cost. The lowest offer came from Southwest Medical where they required $90K deposit, plus additional guarantees.
India became an ideal option based on cost and level of expertise. Manipal hospital in Bangalore, India returned a favorable quote, which totals $30K when considered with the necessary incidentals, travel and living expenses for the donor, recipient and an adult family member who can make binding decisions (required). The hospital has issued a medical invitation letter after he passed preliminary medical tests, which were performed while he was in the US.

The fundraising committee and his family have planned a prayer session and fundraiser on August 28th , 2010 at 5:30pm for the benefit of this transplant procedure.
Venue 12879 Josey Lane,
Suite 130,
Farmers Branch, Texas 75234
The family is very grateful to the community, friends and relatives for the enormous and out pouring amount of support they have extended to them. Prayers are of utmost importance for unless the procedure is ordained by the Almighty, success cannot be achieved irrespective of the amount of material and moral support Mr Gathogo and the family are accorded.
All are requested and encouraged to grace this function with their presence and to continue praying for the much needed intervention. The bank account below has been opened to receive donations towards this procedure…
Bank of America,
Account # 488022255374,
Routing # 111000025

God bless you all,

The Kimani family
